The Island of Calm

This is a destination you'll wish you had discovered sooner. Where private yacht charters and chic beach clubs meet tranquil shores and the serenity of the mountains, Mallorca offers the perfect balance of calm, adventure, and effortless luxury. Off Spain's eastern coast, the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera) create an iconic Mediterranean escape defined by crystal-clear waters, dramatic limestone cliffs, secluded calas, and timeless coastal elegance.

Soak up the sun on Balinese daybeds overlooking the sea, sail to hidden coves, wander charming villages, and hike scenic mountain trails. As golden hour arrives, enjoy DJ sets, waterfront dining, and private chef dinners featuring local wines and Mallorcan specialties— from sobrassada, a spiced sausage, and tumbet, a traditional vegetable dish, to the iconic ensaïmada pastry, and seafood paella.

This only hints at the many reasons Mallorca is so admired; it's a destination that must be experienced. Below are recommendations to help you plan an island vacation you'll never forget.

Compass set. Mallorca awaits.

The Complete Island Experience

Signature Experiences

  • Dolphin Watching:

Observe wild bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat as they surface alongside the boat in the calm waters off Mallorca's northern and eastern coasts. Most excursions depart at sunrise when the sea is at its calmest and dolphin sightings are most frequent. Tours often include scenic coastal views and, depending on the operator, time for swimming or snorkeling. Advance reservations are recommended during summer. Apr-Oct • 40€–90€pp (2026) •Port de Sóller, Port d'Alcúdia, Can Picafort, Cala Ratjada & Palma

  • S'Albufera Natural Park:

Mallorca's largest wetland reserve protects more than 1,600 hectares of marshes, lagoons, dunes, and pine forests, providing habitat for over 270 species of birds throughout the year. Wander the network of flat walking and cycling trails to observation hides where flamingos, herons, kingfishers, marsh harriers, and other wildlife can often be spotted. Bring binoculars for the best experience. no hours • FREE ***registration at visitor center • Alcúdia

*wildlife considerations: Travelers who prioritize animal welfare may wish to research the property’s current animal care practices to determine whether the experience aligns with their own values. Flamingos are not native to Aruba and were brought to the island in the 1950s to create a unique attraction for tourists.  While some visitors question practices like wing clipping and hand feeding, others note that the birds are not used in performances and live in a protected habitat with controlled diets and veterinary care.

*alternatives:
1) flamingos prefer large salt flats and protected lagoons for nesting like on nearby islands Bonaire Curaçao, where they are wild and protected

  • Cabrera National Park:

A protected archipelago just south of Mallorca, celebrated for its untouched landscapes, crystal-clear waters, abundant marine life, and rich history. Reach the island by authorized boat excursion to explore scenic walking trails, visit the 14th-century castle, snorkel in pristine waters, or cruise into the striking Blue Cave (Cova Blava), where sunlight transforms the water into brilliant shades of sapphire. Visitor numbers are limited, so booking in advance is recommended. Apr-Oct • 50-80€pp • Colònia de Sant Jordi

  • Valldemossa

  • Deià

  • Cliff jumping

  • Race car

Sant Antoni (January): Mallorca’s most iconic winter celebration. Bonfires, demons (dimonis), traditional dances, drumming, and community feasts transform villages into a theatrical celebration of island folklore.

Sant Sebastià Festival (January): Palma’s biggest annual festival. Historic squares fill with free concerts, bonfires, and street celebrations honoring the city’s patron saint.

Holy Week (March/April): Dramatic candlelit processions through historic streets, especially atmospheric around Palma Cathedral and old towns.

La Patrona, Pollença (July/Aug?)

Queen Wilhelmina Park:
A small waterfront city park in downtown Oranjestad featuring walking paths, a few sculptures, and the I heart Aruba sign.

Compass Points

  • a nice green space to walk through, but smaller than expected and there isn’t much to see or do

*alternatives:
1) Linear Park offers a longer walking route
2) Arikok National Park contains hiking trails and is the largest protected natural area on the island

February 2026

Our favorite day was spent exploring the island’s rugged northern coast, where untamed landscapes offered an escape from the crowds. Waves crashed against the rocks and burst high into the air, a mesmerizing sight up close. Nearby, we snorkeled over mysterious shipwrecks, unlike anything we’d experienced before. We loved the slower moments just as much, from riding electric scooters along the beachfront promenade to a complimentary Aruba Aloe workshop at our hotel, where we hand-fileted fresh aloe leaves to create personalized body scrubs, a simple experience that deepened our appreciation for one of Aruba’s most iconic plants
Looking back, it’s the moments beyond the postcard-perfect beaches and cinematic sunsets that stand out most—the salty ocean spray, sense of ease, and simple joys along the way.
Until next time, Aruba!

A solar eclipse occurs when the new moon passes between the earth and the sun, casting a shadow that blocks sunlight from reaching Earth.

        – Total Solar Eclipse – When the moon completely covers the sun. This phenomenon is only visible from within the path of totality (the exact area the shadow crosses) to witness full darkness.

        – Partial Solar Eclipse – Only a portion of the sun is covered by the moon.

        – Annular Solar Eclipse – The moon is farther from earth and appears smaller than the sun, creating a “ring of fire” effect.

While a total solar eclipse happens somewhere on earth roughly every 18 months, it is rare to witness one from a specific location (once every 375 years on average) because the moon’s shadow is narrow (60-100mi wide) and much of the earth is covered by ocean. That is why we organized this bucket list trip to Spain to see the next one in 2026!

Timing of the next total solar eclipse

        – Date: Aug 12, 2026

        – Time in Mallorca: ~7:38pm – 8:49pm CEST

        – Totality: ~8:31pm CEST

        – Sunset: 8:50pm CEST

*Although the sun will be low in the sky during this eclipse, proper eye protection is still required as looking directly at the sun can cause eye damage. These special glasses will be provided if you don’t have one!
